It is intended to create interest in the securities. Also known as a "dog and pony" show. In the last week or so before the effective date of an underwritten public offering, there is usually a road show. Top officers of the company, investment bankers, and perhaps lawyers and auditors, travel to meetings with money managers and representatives of the underwriting syndicate.
